Use MQGem tools with IBM MQ on IBM Cloud

Using MQEdit to create and view messages on an IBM Cloud queue manager

In MQEdit, from the File menu, choose “Add Location…”. This will bring up an instance of the Add Location dialog. Fill in the “Queue Manager” field from the data in the table, and add a description of the location in the “Location” field.

Check the “Client” box and click on the button “Configure” to fill in the remote connection details. You will need to fill in the “Channel Name” and “Connection Name” fields from the data in the table. Click OK on that dialog, and go back to the Add Location dialog.

Configuring the Client Channel to connect to your QMgr

Change to the “Security” tab, and check the “Userid and Password” box, then click on the “Set Password” button and fill in the Userid and Password fields presented to you from the data in the table.

Note: If your password entry field is not wide enough to contain all the characters in these really long passwords, Windows would truncate your paste action. We have fixed this issue in the latest version of MQEdit. Please either ensure the window is nice and wide when you paste in your password or download the latest version of MQEdit.

Click OK on that dialog, go back to the Add location dialog and click on the “Add” button.

Now you can click on the twisty to the left of your queue manager name in the main MQEdit window to populate MQEdit with all the queues and start browsing and editing messages.
